Dragons Solid in 11-3 Win Over the Angels
8/10/2025

Cody Tournear turned in another great outing on the mound going 5 innings, giving up 3 unearned runs, scattering 4 hits and walking 2. Tournear struck out 2 and picked up his 2nd win on the season. He has allowed just 1 earned in his last 10 innings giving the Dragons a much need shot in the arms department.

Newcomer Jack Bartlewski, making his Dragons debut, threw 2 scoreless, allowing just 1 hit and a walk, striking out 3 and Matt Bishop closed it out with a scoreless frame of his own.

Offensively, the Dragons were clicking. Trailing 1-0 in the 3rd, the bottom of the order got things going on back to back singles from Tarik Frelow Jr and Courtney Jones. Justin Clark reached on an error and Jaxon Etter's infield single plated the first run. Caleb Autry followed with an RBI single of his own and the Dragons took a 3-0 lead scoring on a bases loaded double play ball.

The Angels would tie it in the 5th when Courtney Jones homered with 1 out in the Dragons half of the 5th to grab the lead back. Cody Tournear doubled down the line and Justin Clark scorched an infield single that the 3rd baseman barely got a glove on. Caleb Autry (.437) hit a SAC fly and Warner Adcock (.320) sliced a 2 out, 2 run double down the line to to make it 6-3. Julian Sewell (.316) laced one down the 1st base line for an RBI single followed by another 2 out RBI single from Edikson Zaro (.414) and it was suddenly 9-3.

In the Dragons 7th, Carl Gennaro singled and Justin Clark (team leading .458 batting average) hit a 2 run shot for his 2nd home run of the year. Collectively, one of the most complete games we've played this year with a lot of contributors and a season high 15 hits. Jaxon Etter continued his good work at the plate going 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Tarik Frelow Jr stayed hot going 1 for 2 with 2 walks and a run. Cody Tournear is 2 for his last 4 as the bottom 2 of the lineup combined with 3 add-ons to the lineup went 5 for 10 with 2 walks, a HR, double, 5 runs scored and an RBI. The lineup gets tougher and tougher to fill out each week. Everyone is contributing in their own way, whether it be at DH, defensively, key at bats, or innings on the mound. Sunday was a complete team effort as the Dragons improved to 11-3 on the season with 4 tough games ahead prior to the playoffs starting the 1st week of September.

Long time rival, Geogia Cherokees (7-5) will visit the Dragons next Sunday with the Dragons looking to avenge an early season 12-11 loss.
