Cody Tournear pitched his best game of the year going 5 strong innings in the extreme GA heat! Tournear gave up 2 runs, 1 earned, scattering 5 hits, and walking just 1. The Dragons defense didn't do any favors all day and we are currently looking to replace to the grounds crew at Lakeside. (Apply within:-)
Tarik Frelow Jr put the Dragons up 3-0 in the 2nd inning with his first HR of the year, a line shot to left center that just cleared the wall.
The Dragons went up 5-1 in the 4th, after a leadoff single from Jaxon Etter (.500), a Frelow double and a wild pitch. Justin Clark (.455) singled and Stef Lollar walked (one of his 4 on the day).
The Dragons remained scoreless over the next 3 innings as the Punishers chipped away at the lead with 1 in the 6th, and 3 in the 7th to take over the lead 6-5.
In the Dragons 8th, with time running down, Tyler Moore and Warner Adcock both walked to start the inning when Etter drilled an 0-1 fastball to right center for a game tying knock. Julian Sewell, subbing in the game earlier came up and hammered a 3-1 pitch to right that kept going and outta here for a 3 run blast to put the Dragons up 9-6.
Going to the 8th and final inning with time elapsed, the Punishers reached on an error and followed with a 2 run HR to cut the lead to 9-8. A single put the tying run on with no one out and veteran lefty, Stef Lollar, settled in getting two infield popups and striking out the last guy to put out the fire and give the Dragons yet another 1 run victory to run our record up to 10-3, winning 9 of the last 10.
A tough Squeaks team is next up, 10am at Lakeside, Sunday 8/3.
